A beautiful Japanese-made iron wok for serious home cooking. The Summit Tsuchime Black Iron Wok has a hammered-style surface, wooden handle, and responsive heat control, making it perfect for quick stir-fries, fried rice, noodles and everyday Asian meals.

It’s lighter and easier to handle than a traditional heavy carbon steel wok, but still gives you that proper high-heat cooking experience once seasoned well.

This is one of those woks that makes you want to cook more.

The Summit Tsuchime Black Iron Wok 30cm is made in Japan and designed for everyday home kitchens that still want proper wok-style cooking.

At 30cm, it’s a very practical size for households. Big enough for fried rice, noodles, vegetables, dumplings, eggs, and small family stir-fries — but not so huge that you need bodybuilder wrists to use it.

Unlike non-stick pans, this wok is made from iron, so it needs seasoning and care. But once you build up the surface, it becomes more naturally non-stick over time and gives you better heat, better flavour, and better browning. Basically, treat it well and it will reward you.

This is a great wok for someone who wants to move away from coated non-stick cookware and start cooking with something more traditional, durable and satisfying.

Why we like it

The hammered texture isn’t just pretty — it gives the wok a lovely handcrafted feel and helps make it feel less “factory flat” than a standard pan.

We also like that it’s Made in Japan, with a proper wooden handle and a manageable size for Australian home kitchens. A lot of people want a “real wok” but accidentally buy one that’s too big, too heavy, or too annoying to use. This one is a nice balance.

Good wok hei still depends on your stove, heat, oil, and technique — no magic pan can do everything for you, okay — but this wok gives you a very good starting point.

Care instructions

This iron wok comes with a protective factory coating to prevent rust during storage and transport. Please remove this coating before first use.

Before first use

Wash the wok thoroughly with warm water, dish soap and a soft sponge.

Dry completely, then heat the wok on the stove to remove any remaining moisture and factory coating.

Once dry, apply a thin layer of neutral cooking oil and heat gently to begin seasoning the wok ( 5 minutes approx.)

After use

Wash with hot water and a soft sponge.

Dry immediately on the stove.

Wipe a thin layer of oil over the surface before storing.

Important

Do not put in the dishwasher.
Do not soak in water.
Do not leave wet.
Do not cook acidic foods for long periods, especially while the wok is still new.

The wok will darken and develop a natural seasoning over time. This is normal — the more you use it, the better it gets.
